47 Myrtle Beach Area Golf Courses Allow Kids to Play for Free

The official start of summer is still weeks away, but family golf in Myrtle Beach is already heating up. Myrtle Beach golf courses have always been aggressive in reaching out to the families that pour into the area for a beach vacation, and 2013 will be no different.

Forty-seven layouts will allow kids 16-and-under to play for free when accompanied by a paying adult as part of the area’s popular “Kids Play Free” program.

Among the Myrtle Beach golf courses that participate in the program are 28 four-star layouts, according to Golf Digest’s prestigious “Best Places to Play” guide, and five that have been ranked among “America’s 100 Greatest Public Courses” in recent years.

King’s North at Myrtle Beach National, Grande Dunes, Rivers Edge, Tidewater and Tiger’s Eye are among the highly decorated courses that junior golfers can play for free.

“The ‘Kids Play Free’ program is one of our most rewarding endeavors,” said Bill Golden, president of Myrtle Beach Golf Holiday. “We pride ourselves on introducing juniors to the game and creating a family-friendly atmosphere. This unique program will allow families vacationing along the Grand Strand to play a great round of golf at a tremendous value.”

“Kids Play Free” is one of two prominent family outreach initiatives in the area. For the 25th consecutive year, Myrtle Beach Golf Holiday will be running its Summer Family Golf Tournaments series as well. The tournaments are played on Wednesdays from late June through mid-August and each event is played at a different Myrtle Beach golf course.

The Summer Family Golf Tournaments also allow golfers 16 years-of-age and younger to play for free with a paying adult. Participation is $40 for adults (unless otherwise noted on the schedule) with the fee including a cart and the opportunity to win an assortment of prizes in closest-to-the-pin and long-drive contests.

Whether it’s a boys trip or you want to work golf into a family beach vacation, Myrtle Beach delivers great quality and value.
