Spring Palmetto High School Golf Championship All-Tournament Team Named
 
Austin Cody (Pinewood Prep, SC), Davis Womble (Wesleyan Christian, NC), Billy Herring (Cape Fear Christian, NC), Austin Weaver (Liberty Christian, TX) and Austen Dailey (Edison High School, CA) were named to the 2008 Spring Palmetto High School Golf Championship All-Tournament Team presented by the National High School Golf Coaches Association (NHSGCA).
 
“The five members of the All Tournament Team excelled to the top of a tournament consisting of almost 400 golfers, on championship golf courses set at nearly 7,000 yards over the three-day competition,” said Dave Macpherson, Palmetto tournament director. “It is an accomplishment they should truly be proud of.”
 
The Palmetto High School Golf Championships once again teamed up with the National High School Golf Coaches Association (NHSGCA) for the annual spring championship, and the fourth annual fall championship, to be held September 12-13, 2008. The NHSGCA is the only national association for high school golf coaches and through the partnership; the Palmetto High School Golf Championships reaches high school golf coaches across the country seeking tournaments for their teams.
 
Hosted in Myrtle Beach, SC, the 54-hole Spring Palmetto Golf Championship was held at Aberdeen Country Club, Blackmoor Golf Club, Crown Park Golf Club, Founders Club, Indigo Creek Golf Club, Meadowlands Golf Club, River Hills Golf Club, Sea Trail Plantation, The Pearl Golf Club, Tradition Golf Club, True Blue Plantation and Wachesaw Plantation. Teams from 13 states were represented including Alabama, California, Georgia, Idaho, Indiana, Louisiana, Maryland, Missouri, Nebraska, New Jersey, North Carolina, South Carolina, Texas and two high school teams from Canada.

Pinewood Prep Wins Palmetto

Pinewood Prep coach Greg Baechtle brought his team to the Palmetto High School Golf Championship the previous four years, using the nation’s largest high school tournament as a barometer for the Panthers’ strength. In 2010, the tournament field will use the North Charleston school as its measuring stick.
