West Florence High School of Florence, S.C. Captures 2008 Spring Palmetto High School Golf Championship
03/22/2008

West Florence High School of Florence, South Carolina, shot a 36-hole total 613 to capture the 2008 Spring Palmetto High School Golf Team Championship in Myrtle Beach, S.C. Mitch Gray, a member of the West Florence golf team, was named as the Spring Palmetto’s Most Outstanding Golfer for his efforts in helping his team capture the team championship with his three-day total of 216. “We made winning this tournament our goal three years ago and it was good to have three seniors on the team that were a part of that original goal,” said Jason Brewer, head golf coach of the West Florence High School Knights. “The tournament was run well and the weather again cooperated, except for the wind. We look forward to coming back next year to defend our title.” “Myrtle Beach Golf Holiday congratulates West Florence on their finish in the 2008 Spring Palmetto High School Golf Championship,” said Dave Macpherson, Palmetto High School Golf Championship tournament director for Myrtle Beach Golf Holiday. “It was great to see a team from our home state get the win. They had been close the last two years so it was nice to see them earn the top spot in 2008.”
