Know Your Score: Fight Prostate Cancer Announces Golf Tournament Sell Out
August 18, 2009, Myrtle Beach, S.C. – Myrtle Beach Golf Holiday announced today that the Know Your Score: Fight Prostate Cancer 2009 Golf Tournament is a sell-out with 30 teams committed to play in the August 29th event at Long Bay Club in North Myrtle Beach, S.C. The second annual golf tournament to benefit ZERO – the Project to End Prostate Cancer surpassed the inaugural year’s total of 24 foursomes in the Saturday golf tournament.
Those interested in helping raise money for prostate cancer education and research and meeting the participating sports and television celebrities can still purchase tickets for the Know Your Score Gala and Silent Auction, to be held later that night at Kingston Plantation. The gala kicks off at 6:30 p.m. with cocktails and bidding on silent auction items before the 7:30 p.m. dinner of filet mignon and crab cakes is served. After dinner, a “Locker Room Chat” will be hosted by ESPN personality Mitch Laurance.
Celebrities scheduled to participate in the second annual Know Your Score: Fight Prostate Cancer Golf Tournament and Gala include 2009 Know Your Score National Spokesperson and Syracuse University head basketball coach, Jim Boeheim; actor Craig T. Nelson, well known for his role on the television show “Coach”; Weather Channel meteorologist Jim Cantore; Bobby Cremins, current College of Charleston head basketball coach who also led the Georgia Tech program for 19 years; former member of the Big Red Machine and an 11-year Major League Baseball veteran, Doug Flynn; 2008 Honorary Chairperson and former Cincinnati Red Ken Griffey, Sr.; Dan Hampton, a 12-year member of the Chicago Bear and a 2001 inductee into the Pro Football Hall of Fame; GOLF Channel personality Charlie Rymer will be in attendance. Ewa Mataya Laurance, 2008 World Trick Shot champion and World 9-Ball champion; ESPN billiards commentator and prostate cancer survivor Mitch Laurance; world-renowned saxophonist Branford Marsalis; Wes Matthews, a member of the 1986 and 1987 Los Angeles Lakers World Championship teams; Tony Womack, a member of the Arizona Diamondbacks’ 2001 World Championship team.
