Road Trip: Myrtle Beach Returns to GOLF CHANNEL

The four episodes will feature the four-person cast of former PGA TOUR professional and current ESPN commentator Charlie Rymer, Hootie & the Blowfish band member Mark Bryan, musician Josh Kelley and Duramed FUTURES Tour player Perry Swenson. In this series of four episodes, the foursome played golf at Glen Dornoch Golf Links, Leopard’s Chase Golf Club, River’s Edge Golf Club and Thistle Golf Club. After the golf, the cast paid visits to popular Myrtle Beach area restaurants and attractions such as Martini’s, The Parson’s Table, Alligator Adventure, House of Blues, Crab Catchers and the North Myrtle Beach Fishing Fleet.

On the November 25th episode, the Road Trip: Myrtle Beach cast welcomes a guest star to the show, Kelly Thurman of Alpharetta, Georgia. Thurman entered Myrtle Beach Golf Holiday’s contest held over the summer and won an expense-paid trip to Myrtle Beach and an appearance on the show. Thurman submitted a video explaining why he was the perfect candidate for the guest star role. In addition to being an avid golfer and a big fan of the show, Thurman also showed his talents as a banjo player and joined musicians Josh Kelley and Mark Bryan on stage at the wrap party.

“We’ve enjoyed working with GOLF CHANNEL and the Road Trip: Myrtle Beach cast to provide golfers with an authentic look at what a Grand Strand golf vacation is all about,” said Bill Golden, president of Myrtle Beach Golf Holiday. “Through the course of the show’s 12 episodes, we’ve introduced Myrtle Beach area golf courses, accommodations, restaurants and after-golf entertainment to an audience of 110 million homes in 50 countries. Millions of golfers have seen why Myrtle Beach, South Carolina is known as the greatest golf destination in the world.”

Road Trip: Myrtle Beach is a 12-episode series that follows Rymer, Bryan, Kelley and Swenson as they enjoy an extended Myrtle Beach golf vacation. Each episode takes place at a different Grand Strand golf course and features light-hearted banter between cast members, course information and videos, game management tips and golf instruction by Rymer, the foursome’s activities after golf at area restaurants and night spots and live, original music, including the show’s theme song that was written and recorded by Bryan and Kelley. The show’s fifth recurring member, a 1962 red convertible Cadillac, is easily recognizable as it transports the foursome along the Grand Strand.

Road Trip: Myrtle Beach, developed and executive produced by GOLF CHANNEL, is produced by Mickey Holden of the Holden Production Group. Holden has 25 years of experience providing original programming to network television. Some of his recent projects include CBS’ “Jack at Augusta,” The Food Network’s “Food Camp,” “Bragging Rights” on The Tennis Channel, “The Wandering Golfer” on Fine Living and “Tiger at 3” on CBS.
