Myrtle Beach Area Golf Community To Host Closest-To-The Pin Contests To Raise Money For Know Your Score Campaign
October 13, 2008, Myrtle Beach, S.C. – Twenty-seven Myrtle Beach area golf courses will participate in closest-to-the-pin contests to be held along the Grand Strand on four consecutive Saturdays, starting October 18th. All proceeds will be donated to Zero – the Project to End Prostate Cancer, formerly known as the National Prostate Cancer Coalition. The fall closest-to-the-pin contests follow the contests held earlier in April that raised $40,000 for prostate cancer education and research.
The weekly closest-to-the pin contests will run from 8:00 a.m. until 12:00 noon on October 18th, October 25th, November 1st and November 8th. Golfers who participate by contributing $10 to the Know Your Score campaign will receive a sleeve of Maxfli golf balls with the person who records the closest shot of the day at each course winning a TaylorMade putter which can be picked up at the pro shop.
The Myrtle Beach area golf courses that are participating include Aberdeen Country Club, Blackmoor Golf Club, Black Bear Golf Club, Burning Ridge Golf and Country Club, Crown Park Golf Club, Farmstead Golf Links, Founders Club at Pawley’s Island, Glen Dornoch Golf Links, Grande Dunes Resort Club, Heather Glen Golf Links, Indian Wells Golf Club, Indigo Creek Golf Club, King’s North at Myrtle Beach National, Litchfield Country Club, Long Bay Club, Meadowlands Golf Club, Myrtlewood Golf Club, Possum Trot Golf Course, River’s Edge Golf Club, River Hills Golf & Country Club, Shaftesbury Glen Golf & Fish Club, SouthCreek at Myrtle Beach National, The Resort Club at Grande Dunes, Tidewater Golf Club & Plantation, Waterway Hills Golf Club, West Course at Myrtle Beach National, Wicked Stick and Willbrook Plantation.
“We’ve raised more than $85,000 in donations for the Know Your Score campaign so far in 2008 and we hope to surpass $100,000 with our second series of closest-to-the-pin contests that begin October 18th,” said Bill Golden, president of Myrtle Beach Golf Holiday. “The entire Myrtle Beach golf community has eagerly embraced the Know Your Score campaign in this inaugural year and we look forward to working with Zero – the Project to End Prostate Cancer in the future to help educate men on the importance of early and frequent testing.”
