25th PGA TOUR Superstore World Amateur Handicap Championship is Underway
Thousands of athletes from across the globe have converged on one location, dreaming of earning the title of champion. The event is about competition, but also the passion people feel for their sport.
No, we aren’t talking about the Olympics.
The 25th anniversary PGA TOUR Superstore World Amateur Handicap Championship, the world’s largest single-site golf tournament, teed off on Monday, Aug. 25, along Myrtle Beach’s Grand Strand.
More than 3,600 golfers from all 50 states and more than 30 foreign countries are competing in the 72-hole, handicap event. The tournament is open to any golfer – young, old, man or woman – with a verified USGA handicap and participants are flighted by handicap. The handicapping system is the most rigorous in the game, ensuring a level playing field.
The winner of each flight advances to Friday’s World Championship playoff, held at the famed Dunes Club.
