Myrtle Beach Golf Holiday teamed up with Zero – the Project to End Prostate Cancer, formerly known as the National Prostate Cancer Coalition, and Ken Griffey, Sr. in April to help raise money for prostate cancer research. More than 40 Myrtle Beach area golf courses hosted closest-to-the-pin contests each Saturday in April and raised $40,000 in donations. On April 15, the Zero – Project to End Prostate Cancer Mobile RV visited Myrtle Beach, in conjunction with a press conference to announce Ken Griffey, Sr. as the honorary chairperson, and 200 men were tested for prostate cancer.

“We’ve been working with Zero – the Project to End Prostate Cancer to launch the ‘Know Your Score’ campaign and fundraiser for the last year.” said Bill Golden, president of Myrtle Beach Golf Holiday, “It’s great to see the Myrtle Beach area community rally behind this great cause and help raise money for prostate cancer research and treatment. Thanks to Ken Griffey, Sr. for his assistance in recruiting his celebrity friends to the Grand Strand to make sure that the inaugural golf tournament and gala is successful.”
