Possum Trot Golf Club

If you’re from the South, you’ve probably heard the expression “playing possum” which typically means “to remain quiet and still to escape attention.” But in Myrtle Beach golf circles, it takes on a whole other meaning. Possum Trot Golf Club is a classic design by noted architect, Russell Breeden, a Virginia native with nearly 100 course designs to his credit. As with many of Breeden’s courses, a mix of distance and accuracy is required at the par 72 Possum Trot. At just under 7,000 yards from the tips, the course isn’t too long to play, but it’s still challenging for players of all levels.

Possum Trot Golf Club is located in North Myrtle Beach and is part of the Glens Group, an elite collection of courses that includes Glen Dornoch, Heather Glen and Shaftesbury Glen. Possum Trot has long been regarded as the "Friendliest Course on the Grand Strand."

Possum Trot also offers a unique practice and training facility that is among the best on the Myrtle Beach golf scene. Home of the Simply Great Golf Academy, top-notch instructors can help you fix your swing before you hit the first tee.

Sure to put a possum-like grin on your face, each hole is uniquely named to provide additional enjoyment as you progress through your round, including “Analysis is Paralysis”, “Little Possum” and “Big Possum”, and “T’aint Easy.” The finishing hole is a real tester -- a.k.a. “Oh, No”. It’s a par 5 that usually plays into a prevailing ocean breeze, an uphill fairway and guardian water hazard water.
