One of two Jack Nicklaus designs in the Myrtle Beach golf market, Long Bay Golf Club does the 18-time major champion proud.
Fittingly, for a course bearing the Nicklaus name, Long Bay tests a player’s willingness to compete. The course, which earned 4.5 stars in “Golf Digest’s” prestigious “Best Places to Play” guide, is challenging throughout but it’s a wonderful design.
Players will remember the yawning waste bunkers and mounded fairways, which conspire to create memorable visuals. The 18th hole, a dogleg right that plays around a large lake, and the 10th, a par 4 that has waster bunkers running up both sides of the fairway, is Long Bay at its best.
One piece of advice: make sure you take enough club on the approach. Long Bay’s greens, which are surrounded by bunkers and collection areas, must be accessed via the air. There is more trouble in front of the greens than behind them, so grab an extra club.
Golf Digest has awarded this golf course 4.5 stars in their prestigious "Places to Play" course rankings. This course has continually been in "The Myrtle Beach Golf Insider" top 25 with a current ranking of #24.
