Glen Dornoch Waterway Golf Links
Any list of Myrtle Beach’s most memorable courses has to include Glen Dornoch Waterway Golf Links. As the name suggests, the Clyde Johnston design is one of seven Myrtle Beach golf courses that plays along the Intracoastal Waterway and it certainly offers some of the prettiest views.
Glen Dornoch rewards shot-making and creativity as opposed to raw power alone. Only three of the course’s 10 par 4s play more than 400 yards from the blue tees, and the first three holes all play under 350 yards. But don’t mistake “short” for easy. Glen Dornoch challenges throughout.
Two of the course’s lengthiest par 4s occur on 16 and 18, and they’re among the most challenging and memorable along the Grand Strand. The Intracoastal comes into play on each of the final three holes and the closing stretch is arguably the area’s toughest.
The inland holes are equally appealing. Glen Dornoch plays through 260 acres of soaring live oak trees, lakes and marshland.
“Golf Magazine” called Glen Dornoch a “Top 10 Golf Course in Myrtle Beach” and one trip around the property will make the reasons obvious. A 4-star course, according to “Golf Digest’s Best Places to Play” guide, Glen Dornoch brings golfers back year after year.
