Dunes Golf and Beach Club

The host of the 2014 PGA Professional National Championship, the Dunes Club is Myrtle Beach’s most revered golf course and it remains the area’s bedrock layout. The Dunes Club was the second Myrtle Beach golf course, opening in 1949. However, it’s the Robert Trent Jones Sr. design which brought cache to the market.

The course is regarded as one of RTJ’s finest works and it has the resume to support its lofty reputation. The Dunes Club has hosted Senior PGA Tour Championships, the U.S. Women’s Open, and the finals of the PGA Tour’s Q-School (where Lanny Wadkins and Gary McCord earned their cards).

Dunes Club is also ranked among America’s 100 greatest public courses by “Golf Digest” and “Golf Magazine.”

Starting with a clubhouse that offers a stunning view of the Atlantic Ocean, the Dunes Club is an unforgettable round of golf. The classically designed layout is an architectural gem as legendary RTJ made great use of land that offers uncommon – for the area - natural contour.

Dunes Club is home to one of the nation’s most famed holes, the par 5 13th, otherwise known as Waterloo. The hole is a 90-degree, dogleg right that plays around alligator-filled Lake Singleton - a hole players never forget.

The 13th hole is the dramatic conclusion of Alligator Alley, a three-hole stretch, beginning with No. 11. Players talk about this hole long after they’ve left the venerable course.
